Have you ever wondered how musicians create their following and image? This blog will be analyzing musicians and bands in the Pacific Northwest and the communications they use in the promotion of their music and in keeping up their public image.
I am interested in music in the Pacific Northwest because music has always been very important to me as a way for me to process emotions and connect with others. As someone with ADHD, I find it hard sitting in silence and being alone with my many racing thoughts and I often fill that silence with music.
I grew up in a very musical family and listening to a wide variety of genres. My father and many of my siblings are musicians and are even in the works of forming a band. In rural Virginia where I lived when I was younger, there was not a huge music scene, and often the concerts and shows I would go to were just bluegrass, folk, and country.
When I moved to Eugene, Ore. seven years ago, I found such a vast music scene. You could find concerts and shows for any genre of music you could think of and I found that the music scene extended beyond Eugene, and there were many musicians and bands producing many kinds of music throughout the Pacific Northwest. I now attend a variety of shows, festivals, and open mics, and have formed amazing friendships with musicians here.
Since I am a public relations and journalism major, I am very interested in communications and how to use communications to help promote artists who deserve more recognition and following but do not know how to achieve that. I have helped local businesses gain more attention, which have turned into more customers and I have had requests from musicians, podcasters, vloggers, photographers, and entrepreneurs for help in promoting their products and brand.
I am hoping that this blog will help shine a light on musicians that deserve more attention, help generate ideas for others needing help in their own communications and promotions of their products and brand, and maybe even create interest in readers for music stemming from the Pacific Northwest.
